Performance with Milena Nowak
Heroically, we try to achieve just the right amount of everything. In an interconnected world, the opinions on what that should look like are multiplying, and so are the eyes following us as we try. Finding and recognising the mysterious ‘self’ can be difficult at times, but this does not at all prevent us from eagerly working to optimise, realise and present a ‘self’. Various hardware and software technologies promise to support us in these endeavours. They measure and monitor our bodies, always searching for values that tell us that we have finally come closer to the right measure and that optimised self. Glances, views and data points become rewards and punishments. The measured and represented body takes the place of the experienced, sensual body. Paradoxically, we loose any sense of moderation and right measure in the act of monitoring and measuring.
In a playful performance, we explore the relationship of bodies to data and spaces, and not least to themselves and to each other.
